To apply for a four-year Educate New Mexico Scholarship worth $1,000 per year for students in grades K–6, and $1,500 per year for grades 7–12, please read and follow the instructions below:

1. Determine if you qualify financially by referring to the Income Limits Table.


2. Please submit only one application per family. (The child must be entering grades K–12)


3. Complete the Student Application Form and submit it. Please do not apply if your Total Family Income exceeds our limits. All winners will be required to provide proof of income by submitting an IRS 1040 or 1040EZ tax return. If you did not file a tax return this past year, a copy of your latest AFDC or Social Security Income (SSI) statement or benefits letter will be used instead. If income cannot be verified to fall within Educate New Mexico limits, then the scholarship will not be processed. Income verification is required each year for the scholarship to be renewed.

Additional Information:

• Scholarship recipients will be awarded on a lottery-based award system so that all qualified applicants have an equal chance of being selected. Please submit only one application per family.


• If you have not already registered your child in a school, you may do so and inform the school that your enrollment may be conditional on whether or not you are picked in the lottery for an Educate New Mexico scholarship. If you need help locating a school, contact the Educate New Mexico office at (505) 797-4002 or visit a list of private schools available on this website.


• It is strictly up to the school whether or not they accept the child for enrollment.


• Parents must agree to pay the balance of tuition due and must remain current on their portion of the tuition payments to remain qualified for continuation of the scholarship.


• Scholarship winners will be notified by mail, telephone and/or email.
